Where Will You Be This Summer?
It's that time of the year again and it couldn't
have come too soon.
Fiddle players are getting their bows rosened up,
guitar Dobro and mandolin pickers are putting new
strings on their instruments, and banjo pickers are
blowing the dust off their Scruggs rolls.
Warmer weather means festival time is approaching!
Every year in the spring, summer and fall, there are
hundreds of bluegrass and acoustic music festivals
all over the country (and world for that matter).
Chances are there will be one in your town no matter how small or
large.
If you haven't been out to the local fiddle fest
or bluegrass festival, you owe it to yourself
to go this year. Many times it's free to get in and even
if there is a charge it's generally not much but you'll
have way more fun listening to all the bands on the stage
as well as all over the festival grounds.
In fact, much of the fun is checking out all the
'parking lot pickers'. You will find numerous
impromptu jam sessions out in the parking lot
and also under the big shady trees.
So, be sure to take along your instrument,
find a picking circle and join in on the fun!
If you need some help getting in shape for the
festival season, get your picking together with this
fantastic book/CD set
See you out there
