"Amazing New Book Lifts The Shroud of Mystery Surrounding The Pedal Steel Guitar!"
"Finally, An Instruction Book That Makes Playing The Pedal Steel Guitar Fun And Easy With A Capital E!"
Dear Friend,

I hate to be the one to tell you this.

It's too bad no one said it sooner.

You have been sold a bill of goods.

This new course will set the record straight once and for all. And that is that you can Teach Yourself To Play Pedal Steel Guitar.

Read on.

For the first time a comprehensive learning system is installed in a fun and  easy to use format. It is a learning system developed by someone who has been in your shoes searching under rocks and tip toeing down dark alleyways to acquire some minute shred of information that has been kept locked away for years. Well no longer.

Ask a pedal steel player sometime how he (or she) played a certain lick or chord. You might hear something along these lines. "Oh, I got that from so and so in 1972 when they ate lunch at Mel's Diner as they passed through Wichita." or " That lick? well I installed a custom made, one of a kind, turbosupercharged titanium knee lever that is also connected to my left ear lobe so that when I wiggle my left ear, I can get a vibrato just like Jimmy Day playing Softly and Tenderly."

OK so I exaggerated a little.

The point is that until now, there has not been a course available that takes a beginner and leads them down the correct path from how to open the guitar case to playing with a band.

Sure there are some fantastic learning materials available to the student of the pedal steel guitar that say "beginner" on them  and I have spent many hundreds of dollars on them but with all due respect to the authors, they assume that the person purchasing the tape or book can already play! Others start easy out enough but move very quickly in a disorganized fashion that leaves me more confused than when I started. Now I am sure I am going to get some "heat" from this.

Allow me to tell you a short story.

I was approached in the spring of 2003 by the folks at Workshop Arts Publishing. (The National Guitar Workshop people) They wanted to put out a book and CD on how to play the pedal steel guitar. Having previously written a book for them Teach Yourself To Play Dobro , I thought it was a great idea and knew they would want to put out out a top notch product.

Best selling book Teach Yourself to Play Pedal Steel Guitar

Dear Joe,
I ordered your "Teach Yourself To Play Pedal Steel Guitar" in Nov. 2006
& have had a ball with it. I started playing Guitar (flat top) when i
was about 12 yrs. of age, Bass, @ about 32 yrs. of age, Keyboard when I
was 9yrs. of age, & started learning the Pedal Steel Guitar in Nov. 2006
@ 52 yrs. of age. After two back surgeries I found that it was to much
to stand & play or practice the hours that I was used to, so I decided
to try & learn the Steel Guitar. I have always been amazed with the
sounds of the steel guitar & watching them being played, plus the stool
looked really appealing. I learned the Guitar & Bass by ear, and took
lesson's for about 5 yrs. on the Organ (keyboard). The "Teach Yourself
To Play Pedal Steel Guitar" is the most easy, understanding, self-paced
system I have used to date. If this was offered year's ago I would be
better @ the other string instruments that I call myself playing.
Attached are some Pictures of my "BMI 10 string, 3 Pedal Steel Guitar",
"Peavey Session 400 Amp." & "Myself setting @ the Steel Guitar."
Once Again Thanks. Allen H.

"OK" I said. and immediately sat down at my desk to write out an outline and some sketches.

About 6 months and countless revisions later, Teach Yourself To Play Pedal Steel Guitar was born. I say born because I put a superhuman amount of time and effort sweating over the tiniest of details into this book and produced what I think is the best, most enjoyable and concise system of learning to play the pedal steel guitar ever.
