| Dear Friend, I hate to be the
one to tell you this.
It's too bad no one said it sooner.
You have been sold a bill of goods.
This new course will set the record straight once and for all. And that
is that you can Teach Yourself To Play Pedal Steel Guitar.
Read on.
For the first time a comprehensive learning system is installed
in a fun and easy to use format. It is a learning system developed
by someone who has been in your shoes searching under rocks and tip toeing
down dark alleyways to acquire some minute shred of information that has
been kept locked away for years. Well no longer.
Ask a pedal steel player sometime how he (or she) played a certain lick
or chord. You might hear something along these lines. "Oh, I got that from
so and so in 1972 when they ate lunch at Mel's Diner as they passed through Wichita." or " That lick? well
I installed a custom made, one of a kind, turbosupercharged titanium knee
lever that is also connected to my left ear lobe so that when I wiggle my
left ear, I can get a vibrato just like Jimmy Day playing Softly and
Tenderly."
OK so I exaggerated a little.
The point is that until now, there has not been a course available that
takes a beginner and leads them down the correct path from how to open the
guitar case to playing with a band.
Sure there are some fantastic learning materials available to the
student of the pedal steel guitar that say "beginner" on them and I
have spent many hundreds of dollars on them but with all due respect to
the authors, they assume that the person purchasing the tape or book can
already play! Others start easy out enough but move very quickly in a
disorganized fashion that leaves me more confused than when I started. Now
I am sure I am going to get some "heat" from this.
Allow me to tell you a short story.
I was approached in the spring of 2003 by the folks at Workshop
Arts Publishing. (The National Guitar Workshop people) They wanted to put
out a book and CD on how to play the pedal steel guitar. Having previously
written a book for them
Teach Yourself To Play Dobro
, I thought it was a great idea
and knew they would want to put out out a top notch product.
