Jammin' In The Bread Line

Here in St Croix, The pace of life is much slower

than up in the States. When I say slower, it’s not just

a little but waaay slower than I am used to running.

When I realized I was the only one running around

at the speed of East Coast, I stopped and took a good look

around at what people were doing with their time.

Standing in line at the post office, grocery store, bank and

just about everywhere else is the norm. Nobody gets upset and in

fact many people strike up conversations while waiting their turn.

The other thing people do to pass the time is read while waiting in line.

It seems just about everyone has a book with them.

I got to thinking about this as I was waiting my turn

at the post office. I noticed many of the books were romance novels.

Now this in itself isn’t bad but what if they were reading a biography

of a successful person or a how to book? This type of  reading would

stimulate the mind rather than just pass the time.

We musicians can take this idea a little further by reading books on music

theory, history, and even how to play your instrument. This can be combined

with the visualization techniques I wrote about previously. Just imagine

how fast you will progress by doing this!

A great place to start would be here:

Teach Yourself To Play Dobro

and an excellent way to learn chords is available here:

So give this a shot and let me know how you make out!

Don’t play any faster than you can play perfectly!
