Brain Numbing Instrument Of Deaf
I don’t know about you but I am getting tired of hearing
all the anti-iPod reports about hearing loss, brain numbing
and in general the iPod being at the root of the current
generation X’s problems
This all seems to be coming from a group of
people who seem to have forgotten that they had
Sony walkman’s stuck to their ears day in and day out.
Yea, come on. You’re smiling because you remember
that big dinosaur cassette player clipped onto your belt and the
bomber pilot, head squishing, hair flattening headphones.
Ahh but those were the days.
You would hoist those cans onto your head, pop in a
cassette that you copied illegally from your friend’s Led Zepplin
album and CRANK IT UP!
Now, just so the record is straight. I loved the walkman of the past
and I love the I pod of today. When I cranked up my walkman in the past, my parents
thought I was going to melt my brain as well. Didn’t happen and I can still hear a pin drop.
In fact, until just last month I was still using my trusty yellow
Sony sports cassette walkman and loving every minute
of the noisy tapes that I copied from my own record collection
yes records…big vinyl discs that scratch if you look at them funny.
So I joined the digital age and purchased an iPod and love it!
The storage capacity is amazing! Now I don’t have to carry around a duffel bag
of cassettes when I go on a trip. That alone lightened my bag by a couple of pounds!
So, now the process is a little more cumbersome because I have to record my
vinyl album to my computer, burn a cd and then upload it into my iPod.
Yea but it’s worth it. Those pops and clicks on the records never
sounded so clear.
So am I worried I’m going to melt my brain and go deaf just
because I now use an iPod?
Not hardly though I can’t help
thinking those big tyrannosaurus headphones did sound
pretty good…
Don’t play it any faster than you can play it perfectly!
